And with that, we've concluded our campaign!
Seriously, from the bottom of our hearts, we're so grateful for all of our backers for supporting Monkey and Peach Issue #2; for believing in us and for allowing us to continue weaving this story that we've whipped up through a frenzy of blood sweat and tears. Thank you, and we hope that you enjoy what we've created and also what's to come.
And now, here are some of the notable achievements that we've hit with Issue #2 of Monkey and Peach:
In raising funds, we surpassed Issue #1 and raised $15,325 for Issue #2!
We're supported by 428 unique backers, that's more than double our 206 backers in Issue #1! Welcome to all our new fans 🎉!
Our most popular reward is the The Story So Far Bundle, with over 115 backers!
DigitalBundle is a close second, with 113 backers!
And some good news: If you missed out on our campaign, you can still back our project! Our Backerkit Pre-order shop will be open for the next month so that you can order any add-ons you may have missed out on.
If you have backed our campaign and still want to add something on, please don't order from the pre-order shop, the Backerkit Survey that we will be sending out will have the option for you to order more add-ons!
All funds from the Backerkit shop will go towards unlocking stretch goals as well; so it's very likely that we'll be unlocking our InugamiSpiritSticker stretch goal soon!
Well, now what?
Now that the campaign is over, what are our plans now, you ask? Well, we're already going full steam ahead!
We're currently getting quotes from our manufacturers for all our books, pins, stickers and prints.
Our next step is sending off proof files so we can review and finalize all our orders. As for the story of Monkey and Peach, the gears are already turning for the next issue 😏
Backerkit surveys are being set-up and finalized, so sit tight and be on the lookout for the survey e-mail once it comes out!

Long have we waited - and it's finally here, Bernard Chang's variant cover artwork exclusively for Monkey and Peach Issue #2!
We're big fans of Bernard's expressive linework, and how he brought out Saru and Momo's character so well! After tabling together at Tokyo Comic-con and helping as a translator, Bernard told me he was going to do a cover for our second issue. Getting to watch him sketch this all weekend I knew it was gonna be a killer cover and I was not disappointed!. It's the Final Countdown!

We are in the final stretch, with only 72 hours until our campaign ends! Even though this is only our second campaign, we've broken many milestones and have come a long way; we're so honored to have all your support!
It's kind of surreal thinking about the whole past year of working on this issue, and it all comes down to these final 72 hours. Throughout this whole project, there's been awesome moments where everything just clicks together, and plenty of times where the project felt so challenging that it was like we were Sisyphus struggling to push the boulder up that hill(a little Greek mythology segue, oh by the way check out Theseus: Volume 1 by Jordan Holt; they're in their last 7 hours!).
But we're glad to have pushed through and seen this through to the finish line - as well as having the outpour of support from so many friends and family helping put this whole campaign together. At times like this, I'd like to share an inspirational quote...

With one of our stretch goals unlocked, we're only $1290 away from our next stretch goal: Upgraded Pins!

Enjoy this behind the scenes look at the making of Issue #2's wrap-around cover art, from sketch to finish by Hammling. We didn't want to settle with just a single page cover, so we drafted up several ideas until we came up with this spread. This cover alone took around 16 hours to draw!
We wanted to re-highlight one of our earlier campaigns because we really can't wait to get our hands on it. They recently got fully funded, and have only 7 hours to go before they finish!
Theseus: Volume 1 is a satirical retelling of Theseus' journey to Athens after learning that his father is Aegeus, the Athenian king. Theseus sets out on foot to claim his birthright, encountering bandits and beasts across the landscape of Ancient Greece. This comedic version of the story imagines Theseus as an optimistic and absent-minded teenager swept up in accidental fortunes, the mischief and schemes of bored deities, and his own, ever-growing legend.
The next series we wanted to highlight is this Sci-Fi super hero story by Laurie Foster. It's got fast paced action and witty banter, if you're into superhero stories check our Power Broker.
Thirty years ago, the secret to super powered abilities was unlocked. Geneticists were hailed as heroes, as the promise of a new age of human achievement shined bright. Instead, their work was quickly commercialized, and the foundation of society buckled beneath the deluge of black market super-powered beings. In response, a task force of professional supermen was commissioned to police the city of Potentia and neutralize this growing threat--they call themselves POWER BROKERS.

Campaign Progress
Our campaign ends Dec 10, which makes this the final week for our project! Since our last update, your support has helped us reach our first stretch goal! We've also surpassed our total backers from our Issue 1 campaign! We're really grateful for all the support we've received throughout this campaign.
Now that we’ve reached $12,000, all copies of issue 2 (both physical and digital) will get added pages of bonus content. This will be 2 additional lore pages and 4 extended bestiary pages (2 for each of the bestiary entries at the back of issue 2).
The next stretch goal is at $14,000. For this goal, we will upgrade the Youkai pins — the Yuurei pin will feature a glow-in-the-dark effect on the floating wisps and eyes, while the Wanyuudo pin will feature glitter effects on the flames.
With only 1 week left, it’d be awesome to get these pins produced!
If you've been following our Instagram page you'll notice we've started uploading time-lapses of the covers by Hammling on it. For this update we decided to upload the Banner Image time-lapse.
The first project we wanted to showcase this week is this fun fantasy adventure comic about following your dreams. We've been very fortunate to be able to chase our passions thanks to our supporters and we can totally relate to Doo's quest. Unfortunately we completely missed this campaign while it was active but check out DISHES OF DESTINY! – A New All-Ages Fantasy Comic and give its creator a follow.
Readers will follow Doo, a scullery maid who dreams of becoming a royal chef, on her quest to search for the tastiest ingredients across the land. With strong and expressive comic art inspired by children's fantasy comics and classic manga, these stories are sure to whisk readers away to a magnificent new world.
If you like Scott Pilgrims and old school beat-em up games, this new comic series might pique your interest.
BPM is the first Team Beats project, and it stars two martial arts cops - the hot-headed Maya Wickburn and her jaded friend Rick Diavola - as they fight to crush an evil crime syndicate in Stone City during one crazy night of action in 1993.
Along with their butt-kicking friends from the Belt Action Dojo, Maya and Rick uncover the Syndicate's evil plot to unleash a strange new drug onto the streets of Stone City - a mysterious substance that reacts to music, called BPM.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend (and thoughts and prayers to any retail employees who worked during Black Friday). We reached our initial funding goal a few days ago just before the holiday and with this update, we're just $1,001 away from our first stretch goal!
Our first stretch goal is set at $12,000 and is for extra content — you can read up about that goal, and the next two in our previous update here!
For this update, we wanted to talk about our other variant cover artist, Bernard Chang, who is taking time away from his busy schedule to work on a cover for us. You can read a bit about Bernard's accomplishments below, and while we don't have a cover to show you just yet, by his sheer body of work, you can rest assured that what he creates will be awesome!
Bernard Chang is an Asian-American artist/designer, best known for his work in the comic book industry and entertainment design. Some of his most popular work include WONDER WOMAN, SUPERMAN, NEW SUPER-MAN, SUPERGIRL,GREEN LANTERN CORPS, BATMAN BEYOND, DEADPOOL, CABLE, NIGHTWING and TEEN TITANS. He is currently drawing the new 2021 debut title for DC Comics Monkey Prince.

Bernard has also collaborated with author, Neil Strauss, on several of his NYTIMES bestselling books, including THE GAME, THE TRUTH, EMERGENCY, and Harper Collin's first-ever graphic novel, HOW TO MAKE MONEY LIKE A PORN STAR. He was a BLUE SKY CONCEPT DESIGNER at Walt Disney IMAGINEERING, designing rides and attractions for their theme parks and attractions.
Bernard graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a bachelors in architecture and was captain of the men's basketball team. Tony Fiorentino, former assistant coach of the Miami Heat, projected Bernard as a late third round pick in the 1995 NBA draft, before his art career took off.
Bernard also streams on Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday. His streams are fun and informative as he gives various tips and tricks while sketching various characters. It's always a chill time with his conversations with other guest artists. Catch him live if you get the chance!

Campaign Progress
It's been almost two weeks since the start of our campaign and we're so close to getting funded — $665 to be exact! Since last weekend we've been trying to get as many eyes on our project as possible and it's been working, considering we attracted 45 new backers! Welcome welcome!
We're excited to hit our goal and share our stretch goals with everyone! Our first stretch goal will be set at $12,000 and will be extra content, allowing us to provide additional lore and expand the bestiary entry at the back of issue 2!
